NSW Govt Lets Down Film & TV Crew |

The Alliance condemns the NSW Government's failure to deliver on Premier Morris Iemma's promises to revitalise the film industry in New South Wales. Additional funds for the film and television industry in last week's budget would have been a signal that Iemma and his government take the industry seriously. But no additional allocation was announced and the industry is still awaiting his reforms. Read full press release here. Last month the Alliance launched Lights, Camera, More action! - a campaign to bring the NSW film incentives in line with other states. |

Justice League Discussions Begin 2008 |

The Alliance will meet with producers of George Miller's upcoming feature film Justice League of America early in the New Year to discuss the engagement of crew. This will offer an opportunity for crew to seek improvements in the terms of their engagement. New Motion Picture Production Agreement |

The new Motion Picture Production Agreement has been finalised, coming into
effect on Monday, 26 March, 2007. The Agreement, covering film and television crew, includes a pay increase of 9 per cent over 2 years and 3 months. A summary of the agreement is now available for download through the Resources option on the Main Menu, in the Film and TV Technicians folder.

The US MTV reality television production, Real World is trying to refuse to engage Australian crew under the Film and TV Crew Contract (MPPA), the agreement every other production in Australia is prepared to use to engage crew. American crew have been engaged under all the terms and conditions of the MPPA, while Australian crew have been asked to sign these entitlements away. The production has offered Australian Workplace Agreements (AWAs) with rates of pay in some cases less than the minimum rates from the MPPA. |
